Our Story

Mahiigaan Charity Organization is a non-profit humanitarian organization that dedicated to work with the most vulnerable in the society especially poor children elders, which effected severs drought in Northern HARGEISA district DHAMAL BALI ADAN of Somaliland.

To achieve their full potential by alleviating poverty, diseases, and illiteracy.

In the long term, we will also work to increase uptake of services and build increasing links between facilities and rural communities, in a region where most are reluctant to seek care.

Mahiigaan Charity Organization founded in October 2022 by a group of professionals of experiences committed purely to philanthropic socio-economic related activities, touched by the suffering and the plight of the people of Somaliland generally, and particularly by the poor children, elders, which effected severs drought. 

Challenge and Solution

Challenge: Seasons of reduced rainfall have led to severe water shortages in Somaliland. Failures of crops are leading to severe food shortages and around thousands of children acutely malnourished.

Death of livestock is destroying the livelihoods of large parts of the rural population. The poorest are forced to use unsafe water sources, leading to increasing incidences of life-threatening waterborne diseases like cholera.

Solution: We will support and commit to focus on children the poor children, which effected severe drought and continues to cause devastation and famine across in rural Northern HARGEISA.
